The perspectives of Tribal Nations on offshore wind are not monolithic, and vary by Tribal Government. Some Tribal Nations have issued statements in opposition to offshore wind, citing issues of unrecognized Tribal sovereignty over offshore waters, lacking meaningful consultation with the Federal government, and environmental and cultural impacts. Some Tribes have taken positions of support for offshore wind, and others have not yet taken any formal position on offshore wind. We encourage you to visit the websites and social media pages of local Tribal Nations to learn more about their unique and diverse positions on offshore wind.
